Schools & Educational Facilities

There are several important factors to consider when constructing projects for schools. Safety, durability and budget all factor into construction projects but special consideration is needed when constructing projects for implementation into school facilities.

Obviously, because children are the primary occupants of a school building, Leed Himmel understands that safety is critical. The realization of the designer’s plan needs to match their vision but also needs to ensure that product will not cause harm to the children at the school.

Several years ago, we were approached by a school that wanted to create a wall. Working with them, we realized that based on the original design, the end product would include small holes that a child could get their finger stuck in. We collaborated with the builder to create a
solution less enticing to children’s fingers while maintaining the builder’s design vision.

Longevity is also of the utmost importance for publicly funded facilities like schools.  Attributes like appearance and function are important but durability is crucial when working on tax funded facilities. The design needs to look good, be tough enough for kids and endure the tests of time.  Keeping these factors in mind help manage the third requirement – budget. By building durable and low-maintenance products, Leed Himmel helps the town stay within budget and reduces the need for near future upgrades.
