LEED HIMMEL INDUSTRIES, Inc. has come to be by the acquisition of Himmel Bros. Inc. by Leed Architectural Products Inc. in 1989. Himmel Bros. was established in 1909 as a provider of custom aluminum extrusions and storefront glazing / entrance systems.
Leed Architectural Products or HA Leed as it was known, was established in 1946 in Hamden, Ct., as a custom metals fabricator and manufacturer. Over the course of its growth, Leed Architectural expanded its product lines to include aluminum louvers, aluminum railing systems, column covers, custom wall panel systems, store front and entrance systems, custom curtain wall systems, interior aluminum fixtures, perforating, water-jet cutting and heavy plate aluminum fabrication. The existing facility houses an anodizing line with the ability to anodize materials to a max length of 33 feet. Also under the same roof is a horizontal paint line, for both baked on fluopolymer and powder coat finishes. The paint line allows for both automated and manual finish application assuring the best possible coverage and finish. Our paint facility has the ability to custom match and mix colors per specification and is certified by both PPG Ind. and ValSpar. A recent addition to our facility, a total of 25 thousand square foot, is a State-of-the-Art, computer controlled, extrusion press and tempering facility. This new facility allows us greater flexibility by giving us an extrusion capacity of shapes up to 8" in diameter, with the ability to go to 9" in the future.
The marriage of these two companies has created a unique corporation with the ability to service a full range of Architectural needs. LEED HIMMEL has participated in some of the most prestigious buildings in the US with such diverse products as control towers at airports, toll booths, custom facades, pressure equalized rain screen systems, sun screens, curtain walls, decorative grills, and cut plate signage to just name a few of the products.
